  • Colts win Div lll City Championship

    November 4 2013 8:25 PM

O’Flaherty propels Colts to Big Win with Big Hit     Big players make big plays in big games.  On Hellard Field Saturday, none was bigger than the hit delivered by Declan O’Flaherty on the Cyclones.  Dead-locked in a 22-22 tie with 1:21 left in the game, O’Flaherty launched a punt into the Cyclones’ end zone then launched himself into the Cyclone player desperately trying to return it.  The ball was knocked free and recovered by O’Flaherty for the touchdown and the Colts would win the CBFA Div lll Championship after a final defensive stand and game saving tackle by Farai Kawenga on the Cyclones final play from scrimmage.   For a while it looked like the story of this game was the weather as an early November blizzard blew in just before kickoff and would serve to ground the high flying Colts offensive attack.   “We were down to about three plays” said offensive coordinator Dan Tocher, “the conditions were extremely difficult”. • Colts 61 Wildcats 25: Goin’ to the ‘Ship

    October 29 2013 1:53 AM

Frazer Toenjes scored five times, Thomas Melvin-Smith twice and Logan Young once as the Declan O’Flaherty directed offense ran wild behind a dominating performance from their offensive line. O’Flaherty opened the game with a 65 yard touchdown bomb to Toenjes and the Colts offense never looked back, executing their game plan with precision. The Wildcats responded with a long drive for a touchdown to tie the game at 8-8, added a second quarter field goal then was silenced by a voracious Colts defense until mid-way through the fourth quarter when with the game well in hand at 61-11 they finally broke and the Wildcats scored two touchdowns to close out the game. Welcoming Garrett Wright back...
